Fall Festival

*Surprise, surprise....this is going to be a long blog! BUT at least it's mainly pictures!*

Sunday night was our annual Fall Festival at church. Guess what Sterling was....Elmo (duh)!!! This blog is going to be mainly pictures seeing as how most of the pictures are self explanitory. So here we go....



Sterling's first cake walk...he had NO CLUE what he was doing. I was just doing it in hopes of winning something for me! but,of course, we didn't!

our annual pumpkin carving contest

So every year Heath's parents have an annual pumpkin carving contest for the family...Saturday was the day! We carved our pumpkin at home because it took me 2 hours to do it!! Heath hallows out the pumpkin and I am in charge of the carving. (mostly because I'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes down to it!) His mom will make chili for all of us and the judges will judge it while we are eating. Then we get our prizes. Last year we came in 2nd place...

All of the cousins (the little baby girl in the chair is our good friends little girl, so all of them but her, are the cousins!) Four boys and one girl!! It's time for another girl in the family!

This is our friends baby....isn't she so cute. It looked like something right out of Anne Gedde's calandars! That was the pumpkin they entered into the contest...how creative!

they did it different this year with the prizes. there were two first places, and three second places...we came in one of the seconds!

Dog and Beth who?

....the BOUNTY HUNTERS!!! We went to a costume party that the Harrell's hosted! When we were invited to it, I went online to look up couples Halloween costumes...didn't find any that sparked our interest. Until I came across Dog and Beth Bounty Hunter costumes...that was it! That was the perfect costumes for us. Here we are at the beginning of the night.

Not only was it a costume party, we actually had to go out on a scavenger hunt around town!!!! HOW EMBARRASSING!!!! They drew names to form groups. This is my group... "Brett Favre", "Axel Rose", me, and "Miss Border Control lady"! One of the things we had to do was find a complete stranger and wrap them in toilet paper like a mummy. This was in front of Barnes and Noble. We went in there expecting to find a copy of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (one of the other things we had to find) and they didn't have it! Then we went to Chili's to find a blood red drink...the bartender just gave us a kids cup of red slush...very nice of him! Do you know how many stares we got for this!?! Do you know how embarrassing this was!?! But of course we had fun doing it...good thing it's only once a year though!

After we got back from the hunt, we were getting our dance on for a little while! Just havin fun!

First off let me start off by saying, even though Sterling is an AWESOME sleeper he has ALWAYS had to be either in his crib or in the car seat to fall asleep. It is very rare that he will ever fall asleep anywhere else. He has occasionally fallen asleep in the stroller (I could count on one hand how many times he has actually done that though), but NEVER in our arms and especially with NO PASSI!

So, Heath had got Sterling ready for bed Friday night and I was goofing around on the computer (probably checking blogs!) and they came in to tell me night night. Well, they stuck around for a little bit and then Heath laid down on the floor with him. Heath just started singing quietly and next thing you know, this is what I saw

How sweet! He fell asleep on his Daddy's chest, with Heath singing to him and most importantly...NO PASSI!!! He was also able to lay him down without it too!!! He actually slept without it the WHOLE NIGHT!! But we tried it again, and it didn't work. Maybe it's a sign that we'll soon be rid of that thing...soon! (here's to hoping anyway!) Sterling seems like he is growing up so fast, but since he did this, it gives me a little hope that he's still my little baby!

Last night was kind of bitter sweet for Heath and I. Sterling has, as of last night, transitioned into a big boy seat at OUR table! AAAHHHH!!! I can't believe he is getting so big! I know, I know time for another one. Believe me, we want to but we have to get this whole insurance thing straightened out before that can happen! He looked so small sitting at the table, but like such a big boy. (is that possible!?!)

Yeah, and of all things for a transitioning dinner...spaghetti!! It was a crazy mess!

I was trying to get him to show me his hands after he was done. He didn't quite understand what I was saying though!
I tried to get him to pose again with his hands up, but SERIOUSLY this is what he said,"No mommy, on my chin." And was sitting there posed like this until I took the picture! I was laughing so hard...ya think I take too many pictures!?!

So we now get to retire the highchair for now until another one comes along. I need to slow down and enjoy him because he is growing up way too fast!

cleaning out the cabinet

Bet you thought this was going to be a blog about me cleaning out my cabinets, a little fall cleaning...wrong! While I was in the shower Heath and Sterling were busy cleaning my cabinet out! This is what I walked in to find... (before you say something, we usually keep his diaper off while he is home because he knows to tell us he has to go potty while his diaper is off, but the min his diaper goes on, he pees because he doesn't pay attention. So, that is why he doesn't have a diaper on! Good thing we don't keep any food up there! :) )

First off, this cabinet makes NO SENSE! You can't really tell by the picture but it's narrow and really deep. It's about 5' deep...crazy I know. Now what on earth are you supposed to put in it? You also can't tell that it's the cabinet that goes right up to the ceiling, so it's pretty far from the ground. So the only way you can reach anything from the back of the cabinet is to stand on a chair and get a broom and pull it all to you. HA, that's where Sterling comes in. Heath had a genius idea!

They were trying to play hide and seek from me (but I was in the shower and Heath didn't know!) and they hid up there. After that whole ordeal of the "game" he thought, while I have him up here, we might as well clean it up. There were all sorts of bags shoved all the way to the back of it. Every time Sterling would pull out another bag I would get excited because I had forgot about them! We even found BLUE WalMart bags....do you know how long it's been since they were blue!!! I probably shouldn't admit it, but it shows you how often I clean my cabinets out! Sterling was so proud of himself for doing this and he was having a blast pulling out all the sacks and bags and throwing them on the floor!

MORE PUMPKINS MOM??

Every Thursday we have "Mommy and me" through our church. And yesterday was going to the pumpkin patch. It was set up so cute. (you can click on the picture to make it bigger)

As soon as we got there Sterling was in awe. He couldn't decide where he wanted to go first! Of course I made him sit and take a picture...duh! ;)

16. Who mows the lawn? I usually do during the day so I can get some sun, plus we are obsessed with our yard too

22. Who's parents do you see the most? Well that's a tie now that my mom lives here, but we rarely get to see my dad because he lives in St. Louis

24. Who asked whom out? He asked me out and our first date was on September 11, 2001...yes that's right! We had already planned to go out that day so we still did...it was easy to remember though
