H

Jenn over at First comes love...then comes marriage had a fun game going on and I thought it looked so fun and figured I would do it! Here's the deal: If you want to play, leave a comment on this post letting me know, and I’ll assign you a letter. You write about ten things you love that begin with your assigned letter, and post it at your place. When people comment on your list, you give them a letter, and the chain continues on and on. I got the letter H! (I think this is going to be a hard one!) 1.) Heath ~words don't express the love for this man!
2.) His Son~ Jesus! The Name says it all!
3.) Happiness ~ I try my hardest to be happy and to have a great attitude. It always makes me feel good to be around someone who is always happy, so why not try to be that person!
4.) Harding University ~ the college where I met the love of my life!

5.) Hayley ~ one of my best friends ever! Her and I were inseperable from 9th grade to our junior year in college...when I ran off and got married and moved away. sniff sniff. But we are still really close and hope to one day live in the same place again.

6.) Helping others ~ I was going to be a nurse most of all because I love to help people. I think Heath and I are a good match in this department because we like to help people where ever and whenever we can.
7.) Hard-knock life ~ I had a rough childhood and if it weren't for that I don't think I would be the person I am today. So that is something that I am growing to learn about myself!
8.) Home ~ at the risk of sounding too cliche...it's where the heart is!
9.) Hot fudge sundaes with brownies~ need I say any more!?! MMMM...
10.) Hidden camera shows~ As much as I hate to admit it and as much as I don't really like Howie Mandel, I love his new show "Howie Do It?"!! I'm all about pranks!
Ok, H was a hard one because I DO NOT like hamburgers, hot dogs, ham, hair (ick, just the thought of loose hair makes me ill!), horses, and all of the other common words that start with H! Now that I'm done with this I will probably think of a ton more! But these are the ones that came to mind first and I am happy with the answers! It was fun and if you want to play just leave me a comment and I'll give you your letter!

I beat the game!!

If you don't know what this is that Sterling is playing with, then you must have lived in a cave in the 80's!!
That, my friends, is the original Nintendo!!!!
Somehow we inherited this thing when Heath and I got married and it has been put to good use ever since. When we first got married, we didn't have cable, so we played Nintendo.
Never beat it.
We moved to this house almost 5 years ago and it has been sitting on our bedroom floor because someone played it years ago and it never got put away. (mainly because we have no storage room in our house!) Sad, I know.
So Brooke came over Saturday to visit with Sterling (and us of course!) and found out that we have this and so hence the pictures!
Sterling was loving the duck hunt. Don't ask me how this thing even still works. We have to run rubbing alcohol over the inside part a few times every once in a while, but after that it works like a charm!
Check out how Sterling shoots his gun... (PLEASE EXCUSE THE MESSY ROOM! DIDN'T KNOW I WAS GOING TO BE TAKING PICTURES IN THERE!!)
This cracks me up!!!!
Sterling must have been worn out from watching me...BEAT THE GAME!!! Wooo hooo!!! LOL! It's the simple things! :) (or actually not so simple)

business update

I know I've had several people ask me for an update on the job situation. I have hesitated on writing an update for the sake of trying not to sound like I'm complaining or just not wanting people to feel sorry for us. But you know what, that is what this blog is for. I need a place to be able to write what I am feeling and a place so that people (most of whom I've never met!!) who feel the need to pray for us can do so because they know what is going on. I am just so thankful to those of you who actually still tell me that you are thinking of us and praying for us. It means so much, honestly. So thank you to all of you!!
I really don't even know where to begin. Words do not come easily to me and so this will probably take a while to write and there will be a whole lot of backspacing and rewriting!
To start, I do not blame God for anything and I still have so much faith that things are going to work out the way He wants them to, but I have been in a rut the past two months. When we are having to spend way more money on bills alone (not including anything extra) than what is coming in it gets really, really, really hard to keep that faith. Thank the LORD we have a savings account or else things would have been taken away by now. But as we all know, when you take money out, you have to be able to put it back in, for it to save. So since we have had to do that, there is not much left, and now is when I really start to get edgy. And now I have probably said way too much but it is the cold hard truth to how the job situation is going right now. December and January have been extremely stressful and hard on the nerves.
Heath has some jobs lined up, just small little jobs that aren't going to make huge dents in anything. See, I don't like saying "small little jobs" because those jobs are at least something that is making us money. He was referred to a builder that is looking to build a relationship with a new electrician. Heath talked to the builder and everything went great and he told him to go get the blue prints for this custom house and give him a bid. Heath has his bid ready to go and has been trying to get ahold of this builder since Monday....still haven't heard back from him. We don't know if it's a lost cause or what. That has been very discouraging to both of us. That was going to be so awesome to get in good with a builder because that's how you get your name out there and get a company going.
We are just so torn because we don't know what direction God is wanting us to go. I say this because the person that referred Heath to this builder is another electric company. Heath subcontracted for him last month on a house and ever since then has been trying to get Heath to come work for him. Every time they talk on the phone (which is quite often) or if they see each other, he is always saying something like,"man Heath I really would love to have you at our company. You are someone I have been wanting for this company. Etc, etc." The only hang up is Heath really wants to make his company work. He doesn't like working for someone else now that he's had the freedom to work for himself. We thought that this is where God wanted us to be. So why is this coming up in our path?? Whose to say that once he starts at that company and gets comfortable there, that he won't turn around and be laid off again? It's happened twice now and I think one more time might just break the straw.
So here we are. What to do? We have spent the past few days driving around putting up fliers in various places around NWA. We got several calls that ended up turing into jobs from the previous fliers in November, so we figured we better go that route again. Most of our jobs though are from referrals. So right now we are just praying, praying, praying that the Lord will show us what path to take because right now we are so lost. It feels like we've been lost since September when the lay off happened. I can't believe how much I took, getting a regular paycheck, for granted each month.
If you could remember to say a little prayer for our family and our situation we would appreciate it. I know that money isn't everything and we aren't supposed to covet it, but you have to have it to survive. Say a little extra prayer for me because I am the one who takes this the worst. Somehow Heath was blessed with the "non-stressed out" gene and I,for sure, do not have that gene anywhere near my DNA!
Well thank you for reading and I will leave you with this picture of my hubby making up a bid from his first set of blueprints from his first (potential) builder! Notice his shirt...

Would be the number of candles that were on my cake over two weeks ago.
UGH.
I do not like getting old.
I do not want to be old.
Although, it is definitely better than the alternative. (that is what I have to keep telling myself anyway!)
But I did manage to have a fabulous birthday thanks to my wonderful husband and son!

They actually made me french toast!

It was about 73 degrees outside on my birthday (which NEVER happens!) so we decided to go for a bike ride (which ended up taking about 2.5 hours!) and a picnic lunch. So fun!

Having fun skipping stones on the little river.
(I love this picture)
Sterling being goofy and me playing with my new camera!
Then we got cleaned up to go to dinner, but what good would my birthday be without seeing the woman who brought me into the world! So here is me with my beautiful momma!
And for four years now I have gone to Market Place Grill for my birthday because that is my favorite place to get a Chicken Ceaser salad. OH MY WORD! You better believe I ate the whole thing!

Enjoying the best desert ever...the chocolate mess. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a glass with chocolate fudge frozen to the outside, inside and pools at the bottom and they fill it with ice cream and whip cream. Heavenly.

It was a perfect birthday!

But I get to keep celebrating because there are four of us who have January birthdays (which between our two families we have eight total!!) and we celebrated Sunday after church with a fabulous lunch made by my mother-in-law! Thanks again Becky!! So here we are, the birthday kids! Our ages go in chronological order, one year apart, starting with Brooke (the youngest) then me, then Rachel, then Mitch (the old man...haha ;))...pretty neat! Mitch, Brooke (Heath's sister), me, and Rachel

a fun day

Sterling had one of his little friends over today whose parents are in our small group at church and live around the corner from us. It was beautiful outside (when the wind wasn't blowing) today and Sterling needed someone to play with that is his age. They were so cute interacting together! If you want some humor in your life get around two little three year olds that are only children and you will laugh hysterically! Hope you all had a great Monday!

WalMart, store #100, right across the street from the Home Office

Yet another unsatisfied trip to my good 'ol Bentonville Wally World... REALLY???? Oh, but it doesn't end here. They were out of pancake syrup and almonds as well. But, unfortunately, I will continue to go there because they are "the low price leader". Blah Blah Blah
I hear from other people that they don't have this problem at their WalMart. Maybe I should just make the extra 24 mile round trip to theirs and I won't continue to have this problem OR continue to put up with mine in hopes that one day someone will read this blog and see how unsatisfied their customers are. I am not the only one who feels this way people. There were two other ladies on this isle with me who were really annoyed as well...
wouldn't you be?!?!

New Years 2009

Wow it's so hard to believe yet another year has gone by! Where did it go!?! Well, we rang in the new year at Shane and Rachel's house and had a blast! Sterling spent the night at my mom's house and they partied it up a little! haha
Heath and I don't really have any resolutions for this year, but we do have some goals. Our first goal is to have a successful business. Main priority! Next up, we are actually going to attempt to do base training for a half marathon. (starts tomorrow!!! I will be updating on that progress!) Now don't mistake me, we aren't planning on running in a marathon, we are just wanting to base train for it. We just want to get back into shape. (isn't that everyone's resolution?!?!) And there is one more but I will leave that one a mystery for now!
So, here is our New Year's in pictures!
mom and Sterling ready to par-tay! haha that's my man! :)
all of us girls all the crazy guys
me, Rachel, and Brooke Shane and Heath HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
what would new years be without a kiss
We wish everyone a wonderful, prosperous year. Make it a great 2009!!!
